Game Design
These are snippets of work I've done designing board games, video games, and story worlds. To see more and try out the playable video games I've made, you can download or check them out on my Itch.io page linked below.
Primary
Primary was a game being developed by We Could Games. I worked as one of two artists and made things for a variety of needs within the game. Including concept art, character design, storyboarding, 2D animation + cinematics, character modeling, asset modeling, rigging, and 3D animation. Anything the team needed I was more than willing to step in and learn what needed to get done!
The game is a 3D storytelling action game with 1st person shooter mechanics. In a world full of creativity and artists rising to the top of society, one programmer creates an AI program to steal that creativity for himself. One artist, Aletha, needs to make her way through hoards of AI monstrosities and put a stop to Felix after he kidnaps her friends and peers. Hopefully, she can make it to the end before she too becomes a victim of his tyrannical takeover.
Loco Puffs
Loco Puffs is a game I worked on with We Could Games during the 2024 Global Game Jam. Made in one weekend, this 2D Platformer is a 1v1 fighting game featuring two psycho cereal puffs. For this project, I made all of the death animations, cover art, and logo.
OffRoot
OffRoot is a 2D time-traveling platformer game. Navigating between plants appearing and disappearing between times, make your way to the end and return nature to an abandoned facility. Escape before the plants take over you too.
Made during the 2023 Global Game Jam, I made the 2D character art and animations for the playable character "Twinq." Was in late-stage development with We Could Games.
The four games below are downloadable and playable from my Itch.io page.
Disquiet
Disquiet is a game created in the span of a single semester with five people. I acted as the group's artist and made the character concepts, 3D art assets, art style guide, and anything else art-related. It was a lot of work (and still needs a little polishing), but it isn't too shabby for a beta made in one semester. We were all really proud of the story and game we ended up with and we worked really well as a team. It's available to play from my itch.io.
Broken
Below is my first attempt at making a fully fleshed-out story world.
The goal was to make a world based on a question. For me, the question ended up becoming,
"What if in the future, superpowers were used as a form of therapy for trauma?"
These are three of the pages of the 82-page narrative design document. Included in the document are comparisons to competitors, genre analysis, rules of what's possible vs. what isn't, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, maps, a timeline, character outlines (main characters and villains), a story outline, possible side stories, possible story options for a prequel and sequel, organizations, and a franchise timeline. That isn't even all of it.
A lot of time and effort went into making this and I plan to put it to use. I made a short version of a possible graphic novel I might want to continue in the future, and I am currently in the process of making a comic.
I've fallen in love with the characters I created, and I'd love to share their story with the world.
HV Endgame
Below are a few pages of a final project where the goal was to create your own board game. I based mine off the age-old idea of Heroes vs. Villains - but with a twist. The villains can cheat. The goal of the heroes is to prevent and punish villains for doing so.
In the game, you're able to select from a group of 6 characters: 3 heroes and 3 villains. All have different sets of abilities and powers. As you travel around the board collecting cards, you must prepare for the final battle at the center of the board where you determine who will win, and who will lose.
Majora's Mask: The Board Game
This was a group project made around the goal of turning a video game into a board game.
My Contributions: help with breakdown/analysis, game assets, trivia questions, boss cards, and minigame cards.
